crystal am nelson is a San Francisco-based multidisciplinary, research-based artist who traces the trajectory of history through her art and also uses her practice to identify and locate history's impact on contemporary society. Her work often takes the form of photographs, installations, videos, performance and public interventions. While she investigates race, sexuality and class as individual consequences of unresolved history-cum-trauma, she is specifically interested in the contemporary cross-sections of these categories. crystal received her MFA in photography from San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) and has exhibited in Providence,RI; South Africa, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
